Busy Days ~ Peaceful Nights Leonardo Da Vinci Quote

Busy Yourself

A well-spent day brings happy sleep.

Leonardo Da Vinci

Lately it seems as though my internal clock is set for 3:00 am. I seem to wake up for no reason what so ever and can’t for the life of me get back to sleep. I try relaxing from head to toe. I try deep breathing exercises. Mostly I try prayer. Everything ends with the same result…me tossing and turning in bed. It’s as though once I’m awake my mind can’t shut down. My mind endlessly circles with my, oh so important, list of things to do.

The way I deal with this ever so annoying wakeup time is to make lists. Now I know not everyone is a list maker, but this is the tool I use that helps me most. When I stay organized it helps to eliminate some of the overwhelming chaos in my life. I find a sense of accomplishment when I cross even the smallest item off my list…and I have even been known to write something down after it has already been done just to cross it off ;0)

Delaying tasks only makes them hang over your head. Get them done and be concerned with it no more. If lists aren’t your thing then find your tool and use it! Maybe it’s strategically placing items to trigger your memory, leaving notes everywhere you go, or tying a ribbon around your finger. Whatever it is, find a way to prioritize your time and busy yourself with the tasks that clutter your thoughts.

After a full day of checking things off my list and wearing my different hats…wife, momma/Firestar (my superhero name), employee, and blogger, etcetera…I’m left feeling rich with accomplishment and completely exhausted! This truly helps me end everyday with a feeling of satisfaction instead of lying in bed awake restlessly thinking about everything that still needs to be done.

Be aggressive this holiday season! Take this challenge head on and plan ahead to alleviate feeling overwhelmed. We know what the dates are and what is expected. Get a calendar, set an alarm on your phone, or put a lipstick message on your mirror. Whatever it takes, find your tool and get things done. Say goodbye to sleepless nights filled with endless thoughts. Da Vinci had it right!

Busy days do lead to peaceful nights
