Four Frugal Things (and one not-so-frugal)

1. I planted some environmentally friendly onion ends

I saved the root ends of two environmentally friendly onions that ended up in my veggie drawer, permit them sit in h2o for a working day or two, and then trapped them in the filth in one of my outside the house pots, wherever they will expand new environmentally friendly onion tops.

I’m not shut to considering myself a gardener, but this is uncomplicated and responsible sufficient for even me!

2. I stuck some wilty kale in a mug of h2o

I utilized aspect of my lousy neglected kale in a pot of soup.

but I trapped the relaxation of it in a cup of drinking water, where by I have religion that it will perk up.

3. I manufactured a batch of granola

A reader was going through my old posts lately and identified this one particular (which I posted maybe a week into my running a blog job. lol). In it, I shared that I was scheduling to insert a few frugal cooking capabilities to my list:

  • croutons
  • granola
  • crackers

And she pointed out that 2/3 of people are in my standard rotation now (the croutons and the granola.)

The home made crackers, though? Ugh. I disposed of that plan after giving it multiple attempts.

I like my crackers to appear from the retail outlet, be sure to and thank you

Anyone who has built crackers can tell you that they are a whole lot of do the job for not much reward. Monotonous is an appropriate descriptor!

There is so significantly rolling and poking with a fork and slicing and it is so tough to not burn the edges of them, specifically if you haven’t rolled the dough flawlessly evenly.

I determined homemade crackers are not at all well worth the exertion.

5. The fail: I got sucked in with a Sam’s Club sample

I practically by no means obtain the meals they provide as samples, but this time I cracked!

pretzel bag.

The sample was a compact cup of seasoned pretzels, and I imagined the pretzels would be savory.

But I was pleasantly shocked to find myself snacking on some cinnamon-sugar pretzel sticks, and they had been so superior, I spontaneously set a bag in my cart.

This is not the largest frugal fail at any time I think the massive bag of pretzels was a little something like $8.90.

Your convert! What frugal things have you been up to?

(and you can share a fail if you want too, of training course.)
