Oat Squares (courtesy of WilliamB!)

Hey every person! In yesterday’s 5 Frugal Factors submit, WilliamB pointed out making oat squares (promising that they are even less difficult than my distribute-in-a-pan granola!), and many visitors were wanting the recipe.

Thankfully, WilliamB despatched it to me in an electronic mail last evening, so I’m just copying and pasting it in this article for you fellas. By the way, as very long as you use gluten-cost-free accredited oats, this must be secure for gluten-delicate individuals to try to eat!

Apple Oat Squares (9×13 pan)

The original is from Kitchn. 

I have modified it by using honey (or, once, leftover failed apple cider caramels, aka cider caramel sauce) rather of maple syrup, on the idea that the maple syrup flavor would not glow as it warrants to, and homemade applesauce in its place of storebought. I also still left off the apple chunks which The Kitchn spreads throughout the major.

The recipe is dust quick and not sweet, a fantastic breakfast or snack with keeping energy. You can prime with PB for some protein to go with, or jam for some sweetness.

I uncovered them a minimal dry so I modified the recipe to make sandwiches. I reduce the recipe in 50 percent, bake it slender, lower the batch in 50 percent, unfold PB on 1 50 %, best with the other 50 %, squish it down, slice into serving pieces.

160g (2 cups) rolled oats

optional peanut butter

Preheat oven to 350° F.
Mix oats, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
Include the applesauce, egg, and liquid sugar.
Pat evenly into a greased 9×13″ pan.
Bake at 350° F until finished. About 10 minutes a single way to inform is that the edges will pull away a bit from the pan, even though it’ll be comfortable to the contact.
